Dance Classes

We specialize in high-quality dance education in a creative, positive and healthy environment. Experienced instructors guide dancers in proper technique and alignment to help ensure safety. Classes also explore dance history, choreography and most of all—fun!

Each dancer is unique, with different capabilities, gifts and ways of learning. Our instructors strive to provide a personalized experience, helping each student reach his or her fullest potential. While students are expected to work hard, classes also teach important lessons in self-acceptance and kindness.

Every dance season begins in September and lasts through mid-May. In addition to classes and studio events, students have the opportunity to participate in winter and spring performances.

Our holiday informal performance is open to dance families and takes place in early December. We also offer various community performance opportunities throughout the year, such as the Christkindl Market and window performances at local nursing homes.

The dance season culminates in our spring recital, held in late April/beginning of May at Bryan’s Arts & Education Center. Dancers perform in two performances (matinee and evening). Open to the public, the recital provides a wonderful opportunity for dancers to showcase the growth and development they have experienced throughout the dance season.

Jazz Classes

An upbeat American dance form, jazz dance has many different styles and influences.

Tap Classes

Tap is a percussive style of dance that challenges students rhythmically.

Modern Classes

Modern dance is a breakaway from ballet that explores creative movement through technique and improvisation.

Lyrical Classes

Also known as lyrical jazz, lyrical dance is a beautiful combination of ballet and jazz technique with a focus on storytelling.

Hip Hop Classes

Hip Hop is a dance style that has evolved with Hip Hop music and culture.

Creative Movement Classes (2 1/2 – 3 year olds)

Creative Movement has many benefits that will help your child develop cognitive and motor skills.  In this class we will learn class rules and etiquette, create greater body awareness, develop strength and flexibility, all while exploring movement as a creative outlet.

Dance Class Dress Code

Dress for success by following the studio dress code, which has been formatted to fit each style of dance we offer. The dress code also ensures instructors can see each dancer’s body to watch for proper technique and alignment, helping to provide a safer experience. Please note that jewelry is not permitted in any class.

Quality shoes are an essential part of the dance dress code. Shoes provide the proper level of support needed for each dance style and make a big difference in a dancer’s performance. If your dancer has shoes from the previous year that still fit, he or she can continue to wear those shoes for class.

Studio Policies

Code of Conduct

At the Art of Movement Dance Studio, we treat each other with the highest respect. We are a dance family that supports one another and does not attempt to bring anyone down. We lift each other up with encouragement and love. Any misconduct at the studio will be dealt with appropriately and reported to the parent/guardian(s) of the dancer(s) involved.

It is important that everyone show respect to the facility and help us keep it clean. All shoes and other belongings will be stored neatly in the cubby area in the lobby. Only dance shoes or bare feet are allowed on the dance floor in the studio. Keep your dance shoes in good condition by not wearing them outside. Water bottles are allowed in the dance studio room in the designated area only.

To help keep students safe, they are not allowed to wait outside for rides. Parents must come into the lobby to pick up their dancer(s).

Payment Information

Registration fees, monthly tuition, summer camp and costume fees can be paid for in person at the studio via cash, check or credit card. Please note, we add a $2 processing fee for credit card payments.

Monthly Tuition Auto Pay.  Life gets busy, but we can help! Art of Movement now offers a convenient auto pay plan for monthly tuition.

How does it work?

  • Email us or drop a note at the studio to indicate that you’d like to set up auto pay.
  • Watch for your first invoice via email at the beginning of the next month.
  • Fill in all of your information and be sure to choose “save card on file.”
  • You’ll receive an invoice each month of the dance season, with tuition automatically charged to the card on file.
  • If your card on file expires, please notify us.
Attendance Policy

It is important that each dancer is in his or her class(es) each week consistently. Commitment to class time(s) is critical for technical development. Missing class can put the dancer behind the rest of his or her classmates. This is especially true when we are learning choreography and it is imperative that all dancers be present. Risk of injury also increases when a student is not consistently in class conditioning and training his or her body with proper technique.

We understand that illness happens. If your dancer is ill, please keep them at home and call the studio at 419-551-2456 or email to let us know. If your dancer has an injury that is keeping him or her from dancing, it is important that he or she still attend class. Students can continue learning through observation. If any other conflict comes up that will require your dancer to miss class, please submit that information in writing, in advance if possible. If it is a last-minute conflict, please contact the studio.

Inclement Weather Policy
If the City of Bryan is under a level 2 snow emergency, classes will be canceled. If roads seem bad and we are not yet at a level 2, please use your own judgement. If we feel conditions are unsafe, we will cancel classes. Notice will be posted on our Facebook page, and we will do our best to update our voicemail.
