We are in full swing getting ready for our Holiday Performances. Please read all the details below.

HOLIDAY INFORMAL PERFORMANCE AT NEW HOPE COMMUNITY CHURCH

Our Holiday Informal Performance on December 9th is one of my favorites of the whole season!  This performance originally came about as a gift to the students, so they would have the opportunity to dance for one another and create community.  We continue this tradition again this season!

We will have limited seating for this performance for guests.  Each dance family will receive 3 tickets.  The number of tickets per dance family is a change from last year due to an increase of students.  Below is info on how to try to get one additional ticket, if you’re interested.  If you have a lap child, they do not need a ticket. Tickets are complimentary and are just intended to help us make sure every dance family has equal opportunity to watch their dancer(s). Tickets will be passed out closer to the performance.

If you are interested in getting ONE EXTRA ticket we will be raffling off our remaining tickets.  Please fill out this form to enter your name in the raffle.  ONE entry per DANCE FAMILY is allowed.  We will then draw for the remaining tickets.  You have through November 17th to sign up.  We will draw names the following week and be in touch ONLY if your name was pulled for an additional ticket.  If you do not hear from us, your name was not pulled and you will have 3 tickets for the performance.

We do allow you to take pictures/videos during this performance BUT we ask that you please be respectful to those around you and don’t block their view!!  Also, be respectful to the dancers who have worked hard to prepare for this performance and try not to be a distraction to them.

We call this an informal performance because that’s really what it is.  We do simple costuming, we only spend 5-6 weeks preparing, and there’s no backstage.  The students will be seated on the floor watching each other perform and we’ll welcome each class on stage to perform for us.  Any “costume” changes are done right where they are seated.  If your dancer has a “costume change” have them wear their leotard and tights underneath so they can change in their seat.  This performance will likely be around one hour in length.

Here is the schedule for the day of:

  • Dancers should only have their dance shoes, costumes, and a water bottle.  Please keep all street shoes, coats, etc. with the parents or hang on coat racks in the lobby area of the church..

  • Make sure they use the bathroom before arriving!

  • It will be a CLOSED REHEARSAL, which means parents drop off and come back at show time.

Costume Assignments:

  • Costume assignments for this performance: Holiday Informal Costume Assignments

  • Costumes are simple and should be things you already have or borrowed.  Don’t feel obligated to purchase new clothes.

  • Some items are provided by the studio and need to be returned to us after the performance.

  • Example: Your dancer needs a red top, but they only have one with a screen print on it, simply turn the shirt inside out.  No need to buy a new shirt and the shade of red doesn’t matter.

  • November 27th-December 2nd, Wear Holiday Informal Costumes to Class

Hair & Makeup

Again we keep it simple.

  • Hair should be pulled back into a secure ponytail.

    • Please no hair bows, etc. as many groups will have those provided for the performance.

  • Light makeup is a great idea, so your dancer’s features aren’t completely washed out by the lighting, but we leave the decision up to each dance family for this performance.

  • No jewelry.

  • For this performance nail polish is ok, but we ask that it be festive colors!

Volunteers Needed

We do need 4 parent volunteers to help collect tickets and pass out programs.  You would need to report to the church by 4:25pm.  Please reply to this email if you are interested in helping.  Thank you!

CHRISTKINDL MARKET PERFORMANCE

We love this fun holiday performance in our community.  Dancers will perform in the bandstand on the square in downtown Bryan during the Christkindl Market on December 16th.  This is an informal performance that’s all about spreading holiday cheer through dance!

  • Dancers arrive by 4:15pm- meet at the bandstand

  • Performance starts at 4:30pm

  • Dress for the weather and add fun holiday accessories.  Tennis shoes for all dancers, except tap will switch to their tap shoes.

  • This is a super fun, FREE performance for our dance families and Christkindl Market patrons to enjoy!  Invite family and friends to join us for this fun performance and final night of the market.

If you have a conflict with either performance, please let us know ASAP.  We want everyone to be involved in these performances and need to be sure we prepare our dancers accordingly.

**Saturday morning Combo at 9:30am will still meet on the 9th & 16th!**

Please let us know if we’ve missed communicating a detail you still have questions about.  We look forward to this exciting time in our dance season!  We do ask that you please make your dancer’s classes a priority as we have a short time to pull this all together and need everyone in class rehearsing each week.
